What is PRESETT?
PRESETT stands for: 
​Practices and Resources for Employees and Students in Educational Technical Theatre. 

​PRESETT, a division of RCD (Rand Consulting and Design LLC), provides information to high school theatres in order to help them with safe, functional and vocational uses.  PRESETT does this by making available books, articles and other information in order to sustain and advance the awareness and importance of applicable facility design, highly qualified management staffing, and effectual vocational academic outcomes, as an integral part of safe and functional operations of high school theatres.

What PRESETT is Not

​PRESETT is not a governing organization. We don’t make laws or codes. We don’t “report” any school theatre to anyone. Nor is Rand Consulting and Design LLC/PRESETT/The Light Lady, the owner, or any representatives, theatre safety specialists. (Always consult a theatre safety specialist!).  However it is PRESETT's mission to provide information to schools nationwide to assist in their endeavors to be accountable for safe and functional operations of their school theatres. 

Who is PRESETT information for?

PRESETT information is for individuals and groups who are actively involved in one or more of the following areas:
  • School Theatre Performing Arts Teachers
  • Theatre CTE Educators
  • School Theatre Managers
  • School Theatre Professional Technicians
  • Service and supplies Providers to School Theatres
  • Designers and Planners of Educational Theatre Facilities
  • School Administrators
  • University students studying any of the above Disciplines

Significance of the name PRESETT
In the theatre to “preset” something – be it props, set pieces, rigging, costumes, light cues or sound cues – is to prepare ahead of time so that your next action will be accurate and on time. A theatre can’t function without this forethought, and it makes things run  seamlessly and safely (most of the time!). PRESETT exists for the same purpose; to advocate for high school theatres to be run seamlessly and safely.  By “presetting” your high school theatre you can provide a valid vocational education, and uphold the highest operational and safety standards.
PRESETT is all about advocating for safe, functional and educational school theatres!
